What stick does Alex Galchenyuk use?
Despite a few strong seasons in Montreal, Alex Galchenyuk has struggled to reach the heights on the ice many expected he would after being selected 3rd overall in the 2012 NHL Draft. Even without the on-ice success, Galchenyuk is definitely Spec Check worthy given his awesome unique specs.
We've been getting Galchenyuk sticks in for years, and the specs rarely change - 102 flex Supreme 1S Build with a tactile non-grip finish and custom mid curve. Over the seasons, the graphics have changed as he changed teams and new models have been released, but whenever Galchenyuk is using a Bauer twig, you can be pretty confidient it's a 1S construction.
Galchenyuk's curve appears to be based on a P88, but has a little bit bigger face and a distinctive mild toe hook with a very square toe. Though the pattern is a little bit unorthodox, it caught the attention of Evgeni Malkin when the two were teammates in Pittsburgh, and Malkin has primarily used a version of the pattern ever since.
