HOW COMPOSITE HOCKEY STICKS ARE MADE

I find it fascinating that we are now at a point where almost 100% of the sticks used on the ice are made of carbon composite materials.  Not that long ago it was nothing but wood (Evolution of the Hockey Stick), but now its all about the latest advanced technologies and ultra light weight materials that give you the quickest release and hardest shot!

To truly understand how a composite ice hockey stick performs you must first know how they are designed and manufactured.  As such I recommend all players take a minute and check out the following clips:

Note: The repair process has been engineered in a similar way.

Pretty cool that it takes less than two hours! But a lot of work goes into it, and I bet you would be surprised at how much they cost (they are still expensive to manufacture)!

Here is another from our friend Jeremy of the Hockey Movement;

Hope you enjoyed the videos!

I have worked with Hockey Canada, the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and Brock University. But now I'm all about hockey sticks. A passion and love for sticks as a child has blossomed into a full on obsession as an adult (if you can call me that).
