We're thrilled to share some exciting news: HockeyStickMan has been nominated for the Canada Small Business 100 (CSB100), presented by Mastercard.

The CSB100 is a new national recognition program, launched by GLORY Media, that celebrates the entrepreneurs and small businesses shaping Canada's economy and communities. Unlike awards built around a single milestone, the CSB100 takes a holistic view recognizing leadership, innovation, community impact, customer experience, and long-term business excellence. Being nominated means we're being considered alongside some of the most outstanding small businesses in the country.

Where It All Started

HockeyStickMan began as a small-town family business, rooted in a childhood spent on a farm with a homemade rink in the front yard. Hockey shaped our lives in every way, and it gave us so much, but we also saw firsthand how expensive the game can be. Playing competitive hockey was only possible for us because of a hardworking mother and father who practically lived at the rink.

That experience is exactly why, in December 2010, we started HockeyStickMan as a hockey stick repair company refurbishing sticks and selling them at a fraction of the retail price. We wanted every player and family to have a shot at the game we loved, regardless of budget.

Where We Are Today

Since then, HockeyStickMan has grown into one of the largest online hockey stores in North America. We source hard-to-find pro stock sticks and gear and offer them at prices that make sense for families, and we design and manufacture our own line of sticks, the Pro Blackout built for players who want top-tier performance without the top-tier price tag.

Through all of that growth, our mission hasn't changed: make high-quality hockey gear more accessible and affordable for players of every level.

What This Nomination Means to Us

Being nominated for the CSB100 is a meaningful moment for our team. It's recognition not just of a business, but of a story that started with a family, a homemade rink, and a belief that hockey should be within reach for more players. We're honored to be considered, and grateful to everyone, customers, staff, and the hockey community who's been part of this journey.

Winners will be announced in October, with special category honours presented at the Mastercard Small Business Summit this fall. Whatever comes next, we're proud to be part of this inaugural class of nominees and to keep building a company that gives back to the sport that gave us so much.
